In the year 2000, a group of passionate pioneers gathered in Shenzhen, united by a single vision — to bring Chinese animation to the global stage. Founded by Mr. Raymond D. Neoh, known as the 'Father of Chinese 3D Animation', the companies Global Digital Creations (8271.HK) and the Institute of Digital Media Technology (IDMT) laid the groundwork for the rise of China's CG industry.
It was a time full of both opportunities and immense challenges. The team not only had to overcome outdated technology but also faced a market unfamiliar with the value of digital animation. Every step forward was hard-won, but their tireless efforts paved the way for the development of a modern animation industry in China.
In 2005, the landmark feature film Thru the Moebius Strip debuted — China's first full-length 3D animated movie and a monumental achievement for the nation. The film blended fantasy storytelling with rich Chinese cultural elements, earning international acclaim and injecting new life into China's animation scene.
These foundational experiences over the past 25 years have shaped what the DECT Institute stands for today. Built on these legacies, we now embrace Creative Intelligence as our core philosophy — dedicated to training a new generation of creators for the digital economy. By merging art and technology, aesthetics and AI, we are forging a bold new chapter for Chinese animation.
